There were a few Muslim families in Lincoln in the 1980s and they decided a mosque was needed to serve the small community. When the Baptist Church was put up for sale, the Muslim community seized the opportunity and purchased it for £5000 in 1981. With the most basic and tightly packed amenities, this building has been serving the community for over 30 years.
Since its foundation, the mosque has undoubtedly become an invaluable centre for worship and activity, with an important role uniting and serving our community.
However, with the building only serving a maximum of 60 people, it can no longer meet the current needs of our community that is continuing to grow. It has been felt for a while that these current facilities are no longer adequate for the development of ideas or enough space to serve the community and its activities.
